A colleague mentioned he'd been experimenting with one, so I opened JOI AI one evening out of curiosity. It's part of a platform built around character-based chat, and this section focuses on celebrity-style personas. Each character has a backstory, a personality type, and a specific dynamic, and you can browse through categories to find someone who fits the kind of conversation you're looking for. I spent about twenty minutes reading profiles and testing a conversation. The dialogue adapted to tone and context, and the platform remembered previous exchanges, which made longer conversations feel more consistent. You can also create your own character from scratch, adjusting personality traits, appearance, and behaviour. Everything is encrypted, and it works fine on a phone.
